With this book of poetry by Anne Stewart, published both in English and in Romanian translation, we are beginning a new series, entitled Lidia Vianu Translates. The books included in it are published both online, at Contemporary Literature Press, and on paper, by Editura Integral. The series will include both English writers translated into Romanian, and Romanian writers translated into English. All books will be issued as Parallel Texts.
          The translator is Lidia Vianu, and the patrons of this undertaking are, besides the University of Bucharest, The British Council, The Romanian Cultural Institute, and the Romanian Writers' Union.
           Some of the English poets included in the series so far have worked with Lidia Vianu's graduate students on the translation of an anthology of contemporary Romanian poetry,

This collaboration is a mechanism that has perfected with time. The starting point was the moment when Anne Stewart, author of this book that innaugurates the present series, approached Lidia Vianu on behalf of the group of poets that she represents—and who are 300 now. The result was Anne Stewart's poetry pRO project, at http://www.poetrypf.co.uk/poetrypro.html.
           This is a large project, which has led to English poetry being translated, broadcast and published in literary magazines all over Romania. For several years, Lidia Vianu's graduate students (enrolled in the MA Programme for the Translation of the Contemporary Literary Text—MTTLC, at the University of Bucharest) researched and translated English contemporary poetry in their final dissertations. At the same time, the English poets stylized the students' translations of Romanian literature into English. That is how MTTLC has become a brand in literary translation from and into English.
           Last year, this graduate programme was ten years old. As a sign of recognition, its patrons have supported Lidia Vianu, director of the programme, to organize a first Masterclass in literary translation, for which six British poets have been invited to work with Romanian MTTLC graduates on translations from Romanian poetry into English. The second issue of that remarkable encounter will take place this year, between 8–14 May, and it will focus on fiction this time.

            Cu acest volum de poeme de Anne Stewart, publicat în limbile engleză și română, inaugurăm o serie nouă: Lidia Vianu Translates. Volumele acestei serii apar atât online, la Contemporary Literature Press, cât și pe hârtie, la Editura Integral. Seria va consta din scriitori englezi traduși în limba română și scriitori români traduși în limba engleză. Toate aceste volume vor fi publicate sub formă de texte paralele.
           Traducătoarea întregii serii este Lidia Vianu, iar volumele sunt publicate sub auspiciile Universității din București, ale British Council, Institutului Cultural Român și Uniunii Scriitorilor din România.
           Câțiva dintre poeții englezi din această serie au lucrat cu masteranzii Lidiei Vianu la traducerea Antologiei de poezie contemporană românească, http://editura.mttlc.ro/contemporary-romanian-poetry.html. Această colaborare a devenit în timp un mecanism de traducere eficient. El a debutat cu momentul în care Anne Stewart, autoarea volumului care deschide seria prezentă, s–a adresat Lidiei Vianu în numele celor 300 de poeți pe care îi reprezintă.            Este vorba de un proiect amplu, în cadrul căruia poezia engleză contemporană a fost tradusă, difuzată la radio și publicată în reviste din România. Timp de câțiva ani, masteranzii Lidiei Vianu (Masteratul pentru Traducerea Textului Literar Contemporan—MTTLC, Universitatea din București) au sudiat și au tradus poeți englezi contemporani pentru disertația de absolvire. În egală măsură, poeți englezi au stilizat traducerile făcute de masteranzi din literatura română contemporană. Ca urmare, MTTLC a devenit un brand în traducerea literaturii din și în limba engleză.
           Anul trecut, MTTLC a împlinit zece ani de activitate. În semn de recunoaștere, instituțiile care îl sprijină au ajutat–o pe Lidia Vianu, directoarea programului, să organizeze un prim Master Class de traducere literară, la care au fost invitați șase poeți englezi să lucreze cu masteranzii MTTLC la traducerea poeziei românești în limba engleză. A doua ediție a acelei întâlniri se va desfășura anul acesta între 8–14 mai, și se va ocupa de traducerea prozei.
